Last rites were held Thursday for Walter S. Eakins, 66 years old, of Whitewater, who was found dead at his home Tuesday. It was believed he passed away Sunday. Rev. H. H. Murdick conducted the rites and burial was in Thompson Cemetery near Gordonville.
Mr. Eakins, a retired machine operator and farmer, had been in ill health for some time. He was born April 6, 1892, a son of the late Thomas and Mary Strong Eakins of Whitewater. He spent most of his life in the Whitewater community but had worked for a time in Flint, Michigan. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by a brother, W. F. Eakins of Jackson and a sister, Mrs. Lee Devore of Whitewater.
