If you look at Gr Grandmother Bessie's birth certificate it does not list a father due to the death of Joel Ellis Anderson in 1885 in Livingston county MO. Bessie was not born until 1889 but her mother still had her last marriage name Anderson. You can find Bessie's mother and Joel Anderson's marriage record here. They were married in Livingston co, MO. Joel Ellis was the child of Osborn Anderson and wife Sarah Davis.

Prior to Bessie s marriage to Joel Anderson Gr Grandmother Bessie was married to a Michael Baker Apr 1868 at Kosciusko, Indiana. By that marriage there were two children. Marriage information can be found here.

I do not have a copy of Bessie Mae Morrow Key obituary. If you would email a copy or transcript of it I would be grateful. The information in the obit was probably due to the fact that at the time children born out of wedlock were deeply frowned upon and would cause great embarrassment to the family.
