Reuben HARPER was one of the first Justices of the County Court in Carroll County, though he served only briefly. He died in 1870 and was buried at McCroskie Creek Cemetery (also called Beatty cemetery). Many years ago I was told by a descendant that there was an early photograph of Reuben Harper hanging in the Court House presumably among a collection of old photos of former Court Justices. However, I was never able to find any evidence that this was true. Perhaps at some point these old photos were put into storage or even donated to the historical society, etc. Does anyone have knowledge of this matter? Also, glad to hear from other descendants of Reuben Harper.
