Brandi, you are correct. Robert Quincy Teague mar Mary Caladonia Norman. Robert is my GGG grandfather his daughter Ida Bell Teague my Great Grandmother mar Cyrus William Dowell. I have been trying to piece the Minerva Cannifax thing together for quite some time. With both last names being Cannifax of her parents according to marriage, I have been a bit confused. I would love any information you have and I will as well to you if I can.

I was reminded when our latest season of DVD's arrived for the library from OzarksWatch Society and KOZK Television. For those who haven't heard, the full run of OzarksWatch Video Magazine is on-line and ready to watch at http://www.optv.org/local/ozw.html There's just under two hundred shows in the fourteen seasons now finished. http://www.optv.org/local/ozwdesc.html About twenty of those are set entirely or in part in Christian County and will be of great interest to those studying Christian County history. But all on aspects of life in the Ozarks. It's especially great for those who have high speed internet but don't live close enough to get Ozarks Public Television. Enjoy.

It's very likely that he is buried in the Carter Cemetary. It is located in what's known as the Busiek state park area. There are 2 cemetaries located in the park but the Carter Cemetary is closest to where the town of Eau De Vie was located. Eau De Vie is on private property but the Carter Cemetary is not and is just a short walk from the parking lot.

John Bledsoe and Nancy Fugitt

I am looking for information on my 2nd Great Grandfather and Grandmother. The were John Umstead BLEDSOE and Nancy Ann Fugitt. I have found several variation of their names: John W. Bledsoe, John Umpstead Bledsoe. Her name has appeared as Nancy R. Fugitt, but my gradmother Rosaetta Ruby Riley, daughter of Frances Hawkins Bledsoe and William Henry Ruby has it written as Nancy Ann Fugitt in her family bible.

Also some on had posted a message about having some photos of John Umstead Bledsoe several years ago. I wrote them but the email bounced.

John was born in 1820, North Carolina and died 07 Jan 1862, in Rolla, Missouri. One account with Malinda Jane Yeats stated he died in the Civil War.

Nance was born in 22 Dec 1822, Belford, TN and died 09 May 1904 in Christian County, Missouri.

Any help would be appreciated.

Terry
Mesa,AZ

Hello! I see this message posted back in 2001, 11 years is a long time to wait for a response. You have Ray and that should be Roy. Roy's full name was Samuel Roy McDaniel. Because the mail was constantly confused with the two Samuel R's, young Samuel changed to Roy S. McDaniel. He passed in May 1989. You probably have more information than I do, but I'd like to converse a bit about our shared ancestry. Looks like you left out our aunt Mae or is that the Beckie you're referring to? Roy also had a younger brother that died from phenomena at the approx age of 6. There was a big flue epidemic that I believe claimed his life. Pretty sure we are cousins.

Quite possibly the Christian Co Republican carried it, or Billings had a newspaper. The CCoMo library (Ozark) has microfiche copies for both newspapers. I found a mention of my ggg gf death in 1901 Billings paper, and he lived in Highlandville.

Good luck!
Jim Cochran
Bolivar Mo

My Great Grand Father Samuel Louis Malone took over the medical practice of Dr. Larkin E. Williams in Clever during World War I while Dr., Larkin was serving in the US Army Medical Corps in France. Samuel died from influenza in April 1919 in Clever. I am looking for any photos of him or Dr. Larkin or the place where he lived and practiced while he was in Clever.
What newspaper would have reported comings and goings for Clever at that time?

Gloria, I am a gr-gr-grandson of William Thomas "Tom" Maples, and I'm not entirely sure that he is buried next to his first wife, Martha Stewart Maples, in the Union Ridge Cemetery. The stone next to Martha reads "T.O. Maples". This might be William Thomas, but there is certainly room for doubt.

Lucinda Eaton was the fourth wife of Tom Maples. Martha (with whom he had 10 children) died Mar. 12, 1907. He married Mollie Hooten on Aug. 7 of that year. She took her own life on Nov. 28, 1912. Death records show that she had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Tom married Jennie Chastain 12 weeks later; this marriage lasted but a few months. He married Lucinda on Aug. 23, 1915.

I am researching my complete family line. Thomas is son of Samuel S Angus and Nancy J Lent-Angus. He married twice - to Mita J (nee unknown) and then to Augusta (nee unknown). He is buried in Smart Cemetery in Clever, Christian, Missouri; along with Augusta. Mita and their daughter, Ellen, are buried in Frazier Cemetery in Boaz, Christian, Missouri.

I came across a note saying "there is a biography of Tom in "History of Stone Co MO Vol 1" by Stone Co MO Historical Society, page 291"; does anyone have access to this? If so, could you post a copy?

Thanks in advance.

Helo, I saw your message on my email site. I have been trying to find any information I could of my gran dfathers family. My ggrandmother was Idelia cummings. Her father was Jacob Mooney Cummings and her mother was his first wife,Sara Brown. they were from Walnut Shade mo. So does that make me and my sisters a Walnut Shade Cummings? My ggrandmother was married to John William Gray and my grandfather name was Jacob H.Gray. They lived in Walnut Shade and later in Chestnut Ridge.Would you share your information? I would be so grateful.I have some photo's of the Gray family I would love to share. Do you know anyone from my Gray family that I could get in touch with? I have searching for someone from the Gray family for years, who might share our history with. thanks so much Liz Higgins

If your Cummings and Mooneys are from Walnut Shade, Taney CO., MO., then you are related to what is none around Branson MO as the Walnut Shade Cummings. Henrietta Mooney married Captian Vincent Cummings 6 Nov 1845 in Greene CO., MO., By Benjamin Walker. United Baptist. The Cummings and Mooney's are from Warren CO., Tennessee. If you are related to them then I can help you, my grand daughter is a Walnut Shade Cummings, and I have helped her do her genealogy as far back as we could go. This family is from Scotland and there is a clan over in Scotland her Aunt is helping on this end of the family. Thank you Katie

There is no Bear Creek Cemetery in Christian Co., MO or in Taney CO., Mo., there is a Oak Ridge Cemetery near where Bear Creek runs and it is in Walnut Shade, Taney CO., MO. It does have some of the cummings family buried there. You can go to www.findagrave.com and put in Oak Ridge Cemetery, and they are all listed there 13 Cummings, there are no Mooney's listed in this cemetery, How are you related to the Cummings and Mooney's?
I've not searched the MOODYs of Christian County but do have MOODYs from that County, Mabel MOODY STEVENS, still alive and a first half-cousin whose parents were Efton MOODY and Elsie HURSH. Efton had a brother Homer who wed an ADAMS,(possibly Goldie)a grand daughter of Rebecca HURSH not sure if there was issue from this marriage. Elsie's father was George Washington HURSH who was a coffin, cabinet maker who also was famous for his rush chairs. Widowed Rebecca Ann Garrison Adams HURSH, Elsie's mother and my Grandmother. These GARRISONs and ADAMS were also in Northern Arkansas late 1800s.
These MOODYs work into MACDONALDs and possibly MARTINs.
Jim Adams

Question about Alice (Dye) Holder's age. She was listed as 16 in the 1880 census which would have made her born c. 1863-64. Her marriage record that same year said she was 18 which would have made her born c. 1861-62. And her tombstone shows October 17, 1856. I still think it's very likely she was a sister to my George Dye, but now I'm not sure which mother to attach her to.

I think it's quite possible Alice and George were siblings with the same father (John Dye) but different mothers. Alice's mother was probably Louisa Redman. I've never been able to find any of this Dye family in the 1870 census. This would probably answer a lot of questions. Mary Frances Dye, another of John and Louisa's children, married James Henry Holder who was apparently a brother to your Bennett. The Dyes have always been one of my brick walls.
