What a shame. That destruction happens way too often. Thank you for the info. You say you're also researching this Maib family. Do you know anything about Absolem's sister Edith Maab (ca1795 - ca1828), who married Josiah Swann (1795 - 1871) here in Cabell Co. WV in 1819? They are my gr-gr-gr-grandparents. They apparently moved to Clay Co following the Maib's (why did they spell their name so many different ways?!) around 1825. The story goes that Edith died there and Josiah came back, along with his oldest son Calvary (1820 - 1870) who hid on the boat, around 1829. Josiah had "found homes" for the children. The younger ones Josiah (1826 - 1859), Daniel and Mary Ann (who I've never found anything on) ended up staying in Clay Co. maybe even with the Maibs, I don't know. But I had an old Uncle who always told me as a kid that the two rock graves beside Josiah in the cemetery were his two wives. Do you think they would have transported Edith's body back here for burial from MO. in 1828-29? Thanks again!
