There is an Alexander SCOTT death certificate online. His dates are January 26, 1838 Dewitt Co., IL - Jan 23 1918. Parents unknown.

His son, Grant, signed the death certi. This Grant's dc lists his parents as Alexander and Hannah SCOTT.

There is also a James K. SCOTT [Feb 25 1842 Dewitt Co., IL - Nov 5, 1911] who lists his parents as Alexander K. SCOTT, b. Greenbrier Co., WV and Louisa TROXEL, b. Springfield, IL.

Sometimes if we 'go through the back door', we might get evidence or more clues.
