My gggggg-grandfather, Ludwig Jakob Encke was a Hessian soldier from Bieber, Hesse, Germany. He fought for the British in the Revolutionary War of the United States. Two other Enckes from Bieber accompanied him: Johann Ludwig Encke, and Isaac Encke. They were born around 1753.

Bieber, I think, is close to Thuringia. Any information you have from Germany regarding my family would be most welcome indeed!!!
