Nancy Catherine SHANER, daughter of James and Lucinda DENNIS, was born in Tennessee, September 12, 1846, and at the age of 10 years came to Missouri, where she spent the remainder of her life, departing June 4, 1938, at the age
of 91 years, 8 months and 23 days at her home near Lenox.
She was united in marriage January 13, 1887, to Lorenza Dow SHANER, who preceded her in death. To this union were born two children--Sadie at home, and Lou Inman, of Lenox.
She leaves to mourn her departure besides her children, Sadie Lou and Bira, one niece Alice SKILES of Mt. Hermon, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. SHANER united with the Black Oak Methodist church many years ago and was a faithful Christian up to her death. Though bedfast for many years, she bore her many afflictions bravely and always had a smile and comforting
word for her friends.
The funeral was preached by Rev. A. R. Sanders, assisted by Rev. Harry Wallis, in the presence of a large crowd and neighbors and friends, and the body was laid in the silent tomb at Mr. Hermon.
