Does anyone know if the Salem Weekly Monitor newspaper is available? I found where a sheriff's sale of land was required to be posted in this newspaper. The sale was posted in the 21 May 1869 issue. I'd also be interested in the November 1868 timeframe.
Thanks.

I have the following specific answers to some of the questions you asked:

1. David was born in SC on July 4, 1793 and was married to Jane Miller of Tennessee on Aug. 31, 1815. I don't have the location in SC of David's birth. They had the follow children:

Lucinda b. July 8, 1816 in Tenn.
Henderson b. Dec 6, 1818 in Tenn.
Simpson b. Apr 19, 1822 in Tenn.
Jane C. b. Apr 11, 1824 in Tenn.
Mary Ann b. Aug 10, 1826 in Tenn.
Martha b. Nov 10, 1829 in Tenn.
William H. b. Mar 19, 1832 in Ill.
Wallace b. May 19, 1835 in Ill.

2. David's father was John. He came from Scotland with the British Army during our Revolution and decided to stay rather than return. I have not been able to get additional info on John.

I will be pleased to exchange info if you will give me a point of contact.

I realize that several people have been stuck on this particular man for a number of years now. Since I haven't seen anything on him here in the message boards in a while, I thought that I would retouch on the subject.

John "Uncle Jackie" Berry was born August 20, 1794 in Port William, Kentucky. He lived to be 103 years old, and fathered 21 children by two wives. He first married Elizabeth Melton, who was born October 18, 1806 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. They married October 27, 1826 in Fayette Co., Illinois. Their first child was William Kendall Berry born 1828 in Fayette Co., Illinois.

After that, they moved to Missouri, living a short time in Phelps and Crawford Co., Missouri before eventually settling in Dent Co., Missouri.

The rest of the children by Elizabeth were,

John Henry
Martin Henry
James Hamilton
Rebecca Elizabeth
Amos Ery
Francis Marion
Cynthia Anne
Silas Asa
Loucasta Rebecca
David Arcadia
Elizabeth
Jemima Angeline
Enoch Ebenezer
Jackie Jr.

Elizabeth Melton died August 29, 1865 in Dent Co., Missouri. After which, John married a widow Rebecca Lucinda Creasey York, born January 21, 1823 in Tennessee.

They had an additional six children, who were,

Martha Jane
Joseph George Washington
Mary Ellen
Calvin Theodore
Andrew Jackson
Pacific

John "Uncle Jacke" Berry died January 7, 1898 in Salem, Dent Co., Missouri at the age of 103.

From what I understand, no one has found out who his parents were. There is some speculation that his father was also born in Kentucky in 1769 and his mother's name is Rebecca born 1774 in Germany. But I am not so sure that that information is even correct.

I suspect that John and Elizabeth gave their first born William a surname as a middle name "Kendall". I was thinking that either John's mother or grandmother was a Kendall. Does anyone else have any similar suspicions?

Has anyone out there gotten any further with John Berry? Is anyone out there willing to compare suspicions or notes?
I’m not related to any member of this family.

1940 is the last available census at this time.

All the children were born btw 1880 & 1900.
There are no census records for that time period as the 1890 census burned in 1921 in WASH. DC.

Under what last name did she file her pension papers in 1917??

What is the spelling of her last name in 1910???????????

WHERE is she living in 1910 = county???

WHEN & WHERE did Mary Anne die????

Sorry, I just realized you don't live in the area. Just so you know, the last time I was at Ken Fiebelman's in Salem (June 2012), he did not have any of the older books available.

Is there something you need from that book? I go to the Library occasionally.

I am currently researching the Voltz line and have Anna Magdalena's information including the marriage record between her and Valentin Schaefer. I have several films I'm working my way through at our local Family History Center, so I don't know how much info I can provide, but I'm guessing a number of the birth records of their children and certainly Anna Magdalena's parents' information. Please contact me at inavoltz@hotmail.com and I will send scanned copies of everything I have. It may take some time since I haven't gotten through all the films, but I know I have information on the Voltz side. If you're only interested in names and dates, I can send the information in a pedigree chart or family group sheet. Otherwise, I can provide the images of the actual records (along with the translations). Please let me know. Hope the information will help you!!

Looking for any information on Mary Anne Nelson married Elias Cain/Caine/Kane. She was born between 1838 - 1845. From her widow's pension in 1917 she gives her age as 78, but she is 65 on the 1910 census. I cannot find her on other census records.
She married in Dent County Aug 1878. Her children were born in surrounding counties - Joshua Elias abt 1882, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Caroline abt 1885 and Mary E. abt 1887. Mary E. was married 3x - 1st Frank Brashears 1906 Iron Co., 2nd Sam Sutterfield 1916 Iron Co., and 3rd ?Rice.
G-G-grandma Lizzie never spoke of her family so any info would be a great help. Lizzie married Robert M. White in 1904 in Ripley Co.

Irby Bressie is my 3g-grandfather. I do not have a lot of info on Lucinda but here is what I have on her.
Lucinda Sullivan b. 18 Feb 1827 Tennessee, d. 8 Dec 1904 Dent Co., MO. She was living with her daughter, Mary, in the 1900 census. I have that she and David had 7 children. David and Lucinda were married 16 Nov 1844 in what was then Crawford Co., MO and is now Dent Co., MO. I do not know but suspect that she is related to the Sullivans of Sullivan, MO. Sometimes the name is spelled Sullivant. Hope this helps you in some way.

William KELLY, Ann HARMON family

I'm tracking down William KELLY (1836-?) and Nancy Ann HARMON (1848-1902), married in Dent Co. about 1880. William was born in Canada and had a family in Wilmington, Ill., before moving to MO and having another family with HARMON: Frank R Kelly (1880-1960; m. Frieda Bunte); Jane Kelly (1882-?); Lulu Kelly (1883-?; m. Geo. W. Reagan); William Lafayette Kelly (1885-1948; m. Susie Arnold); Alonzo Kelly (1887-1967; m. Avo DeWitt).

Found Anna Harmon's grave in Anutt Cemetery (Find A Grave) but no sign of William Kelly in the online records. Judging from children's births, he may have died in Dent in late 1880s.

Does anyone have access to death or marriage records for Dent County? County recorder's website doesn't give any information on requesting these records.

Do marriage records include an application listing parents' names, etc?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

John Kelly

Hello, I am wondering if you can help me. I am researching our Sullivan family Line. They lived in the Missouri area from the 1850s through the turn of the century. We are not sure of the eldest parents names but understand that they passed away sometime during the Civil War in the Pest House near Ironton, Missouri. We were also told that this "Pest House" was later referred to as the "Poor Farm". They had several children that were taken in by various family and area people following their parent's death from the Small Pox. Two of the children were William Victor Sullivan (born in Dec 1859) and his brother, John L. Sullivan (born in August 1856). We believe there were two sisters, N.Nancy and Elizabeth (Lizzie). We believe there may have been others but can't be sure. William was reportedly born in Liberty, Iron County, Missouri and in all likliness, so were his siblings. We would love to know more about the family should anyone know. William Victor Sullivan married Etta Caroline Braswell, Lizzie married Nathan Oneal. A small note that a cousin has shared has some information written on it that, "the Sullivans were buried near the "Ivester Farm". We are not sure if there may be a cemetery there somewhere or that they were buried on what is now "private property". We would love to discover the whereabouts of their final resting place. Other families associated are the "Carnahans" Stevenson or Stepherson" "Hubble" "Oneal" and "MCfadden" Should you have any information, please email me at glendalecrazy@aol.com or give me a call at 406-465-5667. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
