I had a note from Pat Hardman who has the first Alsup to
America was William in 1633 settled in Virginia. Son Wm Jr
b ca 1690 in VA, d 1788 in Hanover VA. His son Wm had five
sons, John, Joseph, Thomas, Wm and Robert. John b ca 1730,
VA?, d Monroe Co, MS, bur Kings Mountain Cem. He had six
sons: John, Thomas Benton, Dewey/Drury, Joseph, Anderson &
Peter. John Sr appears in the VA Mil. Rec. and his name
appears in the Montgomery Co Story 1776-1957. He fought in
the French and Indian Wars (Braddock's War) under Col G.
Washington. He was quite prominent in early Fincastle and
Montgomer Co early history. Pat is des from Moses Locke son
of John jr. Shirley
At one time I thought Wm N was my ancestor, but later found it was Wm L, son
of Thomas. Here is a little bit of info on the Alsups some of which may
have errors.

and died 1844 in Springfield, Greene, MO. He married Sally Robinson. She was
born Abt. 1787 in NC, and died 1844 in Springfield, Greene, MO.

John Alsup Jr was born in Pittsylvania Co VA, ma Sarah Robertson (Robinson)

1802.
By 1804 both John Alsup Sr and Jr were living in Williamson Co, TN. From
there
they moved to Lincol Co TN, by 1809, Giles Co, 1812, and into LawrenceCo by
1818. From 1812 until 1815 John Alsup Jr served in the War of 1812 and
participated in the Battle of New Orleans on 8 Jan 1815. In the court
minutes
of Lawrence Co., for July 5, 1821, John Alsup Jr pleaded guilty of assault
and
battery and was fined five dollars and gave his neighbor, Davey Crockett as
security. John Alsup Jr and several of his brothers moved to Hardeman TN in
1823. In 1824 with some of his brothers and 20 other men he went to Missouri
on horseback. Later brought their families.
