Classification: Query
Surnames: MAXEY, WALLACE, BRACKEN
In late 1894 or early 1895, according to family history, Pierre T. Maxey, went from Monette, Craighead Co, Arkansas to Paragould, taking a cart with him to purchase furniture for him and his wife, Ella Mae (who was expecting a child, stayed home). They were living with her family in Monette, (father was John Daniel "Tuck" Wallace, mother was Louella Thomas Bracken) They were fixing to move out on their own. Along the way back, it is said, that he was murdered and all his new belongings where thrown into St. Francis River. (he might have been thrown into the river too) Is there anyway of finding out if this story is in an old newspaper? Or has any other researcher of this family line heard of this story before? Blanche Maxey, Ella Mae's and Pierre Maxey's child was born in August 1895, just after this murder. Ella Mae Wallace Maxey then married Edward Lafayette Jackson.
