Hortense H. "Tensie" Dieckhaus, nee Withoelter, 85, Washington, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington.

She was born June 16, 1915, in St. Louis, the daughter of Louis Withoelter and Blanche, nee Grieve.

On May 16, 1935, she was united in marriage to Theodore Dieckhaus Jr. at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington.

Mrs. Dieckhaus was a homemaker, a member of St. Francis Borgia Parish, and a past member of the Ladies Sodality and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Theodore Dieckhaus, in 1976.

She is survived by three sons, Richard Dieckhaus and wife Alice, Millington, Tennessee, Charles Dieckhaus and wife Deanna, Union, and John Dieckhaus and wife Ruth Ann, Washington; one daughter, Dolores Bonnot and husband Larry, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Mary Stumpe and Mabel Dieckhaus, both of Washington; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, July 21, at St. Francis Borgia Church with Rev. Jack Costello officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

The Dieckhaus family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.The Missourian Jul 26, 2000
