Walter Helmuth Mallinckrodt, 94, Augusta, passed away at his home Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.
Mr. Mallinckrodt was born March 18, 1915, the son of the late Theodore Mallinckrodt and wife Hilda, nee Luetkemeyer.
He worked as a farmer for over 70 years and was born, raised and lived his entire life on the family farm.
Mr. Mallinckrodt was loved by and proud of all his children and grandchildren.
He served 10 years on the Augusta Public School Board and 12 years on the Femme Osage United Church of Christ Church Council.
In his later years, Mr. Mallinckrodt enjoyed tending to his large vegetable garden.
He enjoyed Cardinals baseball and a good game of pinochle.
Mr. Mallinckrodt was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Edwin Mallinckrodt, Raymond Mallinckrodt, Robert Mallinckrodt, Alfred Mallinckrodt, Herbert Mallinckrodt, William Mallinckrodt and Karl Mallinckrodt; and two sisters, Lydia Nadler and Edna Nadler.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Mallinckrodt, Augusta; two sons, John Mallinckrodt and wife Roxanne, Chicago, Ill., and Philip Mallinckrodt and wife Bonnie, Augusta; two daughters, Mary Fritz and husband the Rev. Jeffrey, Roseville, Mich., and Diana Hoemann and husband Kenneth, Warrensburg; eight grandsons, Andrew Fritz, Palatine, Ill., Jeremy Fritz, Eustis, Fla., John Mallinckrodt II and wife Heather, Dallas, Texas, Joseph Mallinckrodt, Chicago, Ill., Corey Mallinckrodt, Augusta, Kerry Mallinckrodt and wife Lindsay, Marthasville, Maththew Hoeman and wife Rachel, East Peoria, Ill., and Timothy Hoemann, Columbia; three granddaughters, Rachel Rotar and husband Matt, Harrison Township, Mich., Dana Mallinckrodt, Chicago, Ill., and Catherine Hoemann, Warrensburg; three great-grandsons, John Rotar, John Mallinckrodt III and Lane Mallinckrodt; one great-granddaughter, Madison Rotar; four brothers, Oscar Mallinckrodt and wife Grace, Augusta, Leslie Mallinckrodt, St. Charles, Theodore Mallinckrodt and wife Leona, St. Peters, and Marvin Mallinckrodt and wife Mildred, St. Charles; one sister, Elsie Hemsath, Augusta; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 22, at Femme Osage U.C.C., Femme Osage, with the Rev. Bruce Moeller officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials to the Femme Osage U.C.C. Building Fund in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385 are preferred.
