Bernice Catherine Marquart-Regelean, nee Tobben, 69, Chesterfield, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.
Bernice was born July 22, 1943, in Villa Ridge, the daughter of the late Alfred Tobben and wife Veronica.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Regelean; two sons, Dale and Patrick Marquart; one daughter, Jean Merriman, nee Marquart; six grandchildren, Sydney and Sam Merriman, Courtney and Violet Marquart, Brittany and Adam Marquart; four stepchildren, David Regelean, Mary Duncan, nee Regelean, Dan and Michael Regelean; six step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Mikey Duncan, Chloe and Isabella Regelean, Kai and Jade Regelean; four brothers; four sisters; other relatives and many friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
She was affectionately known as "Gramma" and "Nana," loved by all who knew her, the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Bernice was well known for being able to cook anything to perfection, especially for her family. She was the most caring person one could meet, putting her own needs aside, to do anything her family needed, anytime.
In addition to her busy family life, Bernice owned her own successful business and worked as a hospital financial planner. She was highly sought after in the accounting world, and often had more work than time.
Bernice will be remembered for her dedication to family, brilliant mind and huge heart.
A memorial service was held at St. John's-Gildehaus Church, Villa Ridge, Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, or St. Luke's Oncology, are preferred in lieu of flowers.
