Maudine Loretta Bailey, 82, St. Clair, departed this life Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in St. Clair.
Maudine was born in St. Clair March 16, 1930, the daughter of Robert Julius Gay and wife Loretta Maudine, nee Hawkins.
On June 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Albert Lee Bailey, known to most as "Lee," and one daughter came to bless this union.
Maudine is survived by her daughter, Linda Christakos and husband Tom, St. Clair; one granddaughter, Michelle Christakos Bequette, O'Fallon; one stepbrother, Bob Reagan, Pensacola, Fla.; aunts; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Bailey; parents, Robert and Loretta Gay; and stepmother, Gazelle Gay.
Maudine was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of First Baptist Church, St. Clair.
During her working years, she was employed at Deb Shoe Company, St. Clair, and later at Hoff Cleaners, St. Clair.
Maudine was a lady in every sense of the word and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Caring for her home and family was her first priority in life, and she never tired of her job. Maudine enjoyed many hobbies and interests during her life, but especially gardening and raising beautiful flowers. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to country music and also was a fan of Elvis Presley. Her daughter and granddaughter were her pride and joy, and she cherished the deep love and close relationship she shared with them both.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Duane Banderman officiating.
Interment was in United Methodist Cemetery, St. Clair.
Memorials to First Baptist Church, St. Clair, are preferred.
The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
