Billy Joe Norton was born in Walnut, Arkansas, on Oct. 16, 1930, the son of the late William Norton and his wife, Elizabeth, nee Hall, and passed away at the St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington,, Mo., on Thursday, Jan. 15, 1987, in his 57th year.
He received his schooling here at Union, Mo., and graduated from the Union High School in 1950. On Dec. 25, 1955 he was united in marriage to Jayne Moosmann and three children were born to this marriage.
Jayne preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1978.
Mr. Norton was employed by the Be-Mac Truck Company as a driver for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ of Union and also a member of the American Legion Post #297 of Union, Mo. On June 22, 1980 he was united in marriage to Laura Wear Frisch and they made their home here in Union.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Norton, in infancy.
Those who survive are his wife, Laura Norton, of Union, Mo.; two daughters, Beth Norton and Sarah Courtway, both of Union, Mo.; and one son, Billy Norton of Springfield, Mo.; two step-sons, James Frisch of Gray Summit, Mo. and John Frisch of Quartz Hill, California; five grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Widner of Powell, Tenn. and Cleo Howell of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; son-in-law; daughters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 1987 from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. John Stevesand. Interment followed in the St. Peter's Cemetery at Washington, Mo.
