Emmert C. Massmann was born in Union October 3, 1912, the son of Ernst Massmann and his wife, Lydia, nee Schrieber. He died 73 years old.
He received his schooling in Union, where he grew to young manhood.
For a number of years, he was employed in the Hamilton-Brown Shoe factory and also worked for many years in the White Rose Cafe in Union.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ of Union and he had been baptized and confirmed in the church. He enjoyed attending the Union Senior Center and his friends all knew him as "Lefty".
Those who survive are: a sister, Mrs. Lenora Mapes of Chesterfield; a dear friend, Dorothy Hemker Union; cousins and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 14, from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union by Rev. John Stevesand. Interment was in the Union Cemetery.
