William M. (Bill) Marquart of Krakow died Thursday, October 23, 1986, at Cedarcrest Manor, Washington. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Marquart, son of the late Henry and Sophie Marquart, nee Westhoelter, was born February 24, 1908, at Washington. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith and received his education at the St. Gertrude School.
He was married to Martha Swoboda and after marriage the couple established residence at Krakow. This marriage was blessed with seven children, whom he leaves to survive.
Mr. Marquart was owner and operator of the Marquart Distributing Co. Inc. He was a member of the St. Gertrude Church, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Knights of Columbus, having served five terms as Grand Knight, Holy Name Society, WCU, the Josephites, Daily World Missionaries, Buhr's Club, Sharp Shooters, Charter Member of the Optimist Club and the Eagles in Hermann.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Cecelia Marquart, Anna Schmitt and Agatha Lause; and six brothers, David, Anthony, Henry, Al, Frank and Edwin Marquart.
He is survived by: his wife, Martha Marquart; five sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and wife Jean of Union, Vernon and wife Katherine of Washington, Bob and wife Mary of Union, William F. and wife Karen of Dutzow and Keith Marquart and wife Melinda of State College, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Dobsch and husband Roland of Krakow and Carol Kluba and husband Wayne of Morton, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held Monday, October 27, 1986 at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, with the Rev. Bernard Wilkins, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The Marquart Family was served by the Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
