Mr. Karl Spiess Lawson, 54, of Rt. 1, Farmington, died at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center on May 24. He was born May 21, 1933, at Highlandville, Mo., the son of Robert E. and the late Jenice Spiess Lawson.
Mr. Lawson taught at the Fordland, Mo. High School and at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict as a hospital corpsman. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union.
He is survived by his father, the Rev. Robert E. Lawson, of Farmington; one brother, Lt. W.E. and Mrs. Diane Lawson Sr. of the U.S. Navy, stationed at Philadelphia, Penn.; three sisters, Karol S. (Mrs. Richard) Brown of McLeansboro, Ill., Anne (Mrs. Randy) Hull of Baxter Springs, Kan., and J. Evely Lawson of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by three nieces and five nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Cozean Chapel, Thursday, May 28 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Lindell Vawter officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. James Lacey. Burial was Friday, May 29, at 1 p.m., at the Highlandville Community Cemetery.
