Esther K. Cuneio, of Sullivan, MO, passed away at Meramec Nursing Center on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Mrs. Cuneio was born in Walnut, KS on May 12, 1915 to the late George and Lena (Ruwwe) Kleager. She was raised in the Japan and Tea areas near Sullivan in her youth. On October 14, 1933, she was united in marriage to Alva Cuneio in Union, MO and to this marriage a son, Jack, was born.

Mrs. Cuneio was employed, the majority of her life, in the shoe manufacturing industry. First, at International Shoe Company until her son was born, then later, at Midwest Shoe Company in Sullivan. Esther was very family oriented and loved cooking for her family. She was also a talented seamstress and was fond of crocheting. Gardening was dear to her and her vegetables and roses where second to none. Esther was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sullivan Chapter #105 and Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by a son; Jack Cuneio and his wife, Ann, of Sullivan; three grandchildren; Carmen Wacker and her husband, Dean, Chara Schatz and her husband, David, and Chuck Cuneio and his wife, Gwen, all of Sullivan; 9 great-grandchildren, Beau, Bria, Balor, David and wife, Stephine, Devon, Dana, Dailee, Ellie and Ava; a sister-in-law, Shirley Kleager; other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents and husband; Esther was preceded in death by a great-grandson; Daniel Schatz; one brother, Ralph Kleager and a sister, Jewell Crowder and her husband, Virgil.

Funeral services were conducted at 11: 00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor G. Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, at 11:00 a.m., at Temple Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Temple Baptist Church Challenge to Build Fund. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
