Maxine H. Gough, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, MO at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 15 days.

Mrs. Gough was born on November 9, 1926 in Texas County, near Kinderpost, MO, to the late Emmitt and Mae Buckner. She was raised in the Licking area and later moved to St. Louis, so that she could babysit for her brother’s children. Maxine was later married to Richard Pilkenton and to this marriage three daughters were born. This marriage however, ended in divorce in 1962. In August of 1969, she was married to John B. Gough, Jr., making their home in St. Louis. Maxine taught Volleyball in an after school program, later was a cook at church and lastly, was a clerk at Sugar Creek Food Shop. Ten years ago she and John moved to the Sullivan area to make their home. Maxine found pleasure in embroidering and bowling. She was very family orientated and enjoyed time with her children and grandkids. Maxine was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in St. Louis and a former member of Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan.

She is survived by her husband, John B. Gough, Jr. of the family home; two daughters, Audrey Pappas and husband, William, of Wentzville, MO and Sandra Morrow and husband, Terry, of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Leonard Buckner of St. Charles, MO and Lloyd Buckner of Rolla, MO; three sisters, Marie Thomas of Sullivan, MO, Helen Chapman of Sullivan and Lavern Sneed of Troy, MO; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by a daughter and her husband, Shirley, and Gary Verble; two grandchildren, Heather and Colin Morrow; four brothers, Cecil, Alvin, Charles and Kenneth Buckner; and by one sister, Lillie Williams.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Kirk Parnell officiating. Interment was in Anaconda Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. Visitation was held on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
