Mary Catherine "Mitzi" Bean, nee Hoerstkamp, 61, New Haven, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.
Mary, daughter of the late Sylvester Hoerstkamp and wife Mary Alyce, nee Hatfield, was born Nov. 20, 1951, in Washington. She was united in marriage to Leslie Eugene Bean April 15, 1972, at Assumption Church, New Haven.
Mary was a member of Assumption Church, New Haven, where she was a member of the ladies sodality. She worked at Kellwood Company, New Haven and St. Louis, for approximately 20 years. She also worked several years helping out at the New Haven Senior Center, and was president of the Nortman Cemetery Association.
Mary was a 20-year survivor of a lung transplant. She enjoyed playing canasta with her card group and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to be outdoors tending to the cattle and working in her flower garden.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Mary Alyce Hoerstkamp; one brother, John Hoerstkamp; and one sister, Ruth Ann Riegel.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Eugene Bean, New Haven; two daughters, Pauli Anschutz and husband Jeffery, Beaufort, and Holli Rolfes and husband Michael, St. Louis; one son, Eric Bean and wife Karen, Berger; one sister, Sarah Stock, New Haven; and seven grandchildren, Evan Bean, Corey Bean, Aly Bean, Matthew Rector, Eve Anschutz, Elyse Rolfes and Elaina Rolfes.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Assumption Church, New Haven, with Father John Deken officiating.
Memorials may be given to Assumption Church, Assumption Cemetery or Mid-America Transplant Services, in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
