My great-great grandfather DAVID J. CODER (born 1813 PA)moved to Gentry County before 1860. A widower, he brought with him 4 children: HARRISON CODER(born 1841 IL), ROBERT CODER(born 1845 IL), OLIVER WILLIAM CODER(born 1848 IN) and HARRIET E. CODER(born 1850 IL). He and his second wife ELIZA JANE WATKINS (born KY)lived in or near Albany, Gentry County, and they had 2 children: AMANDA BELLE CODER (born 1860) who went by Belle, and GEORGE BARTON CODER (born about 1865 or 1867). Harrison and Robert fought in the Missouri 25th Infantry in the Civil War and both died in Army hospitals. Oliver William married LYDIA WRAY and moved to Iowa. Harriet married (husband's name unknown.) In 1895 Belle married JAMES DAWSON ARNEIL who was a veterinary surgeon and went by the first name of Daws. They moved to NE, then CA, then AZ. In 1892 George married ELIZABETH ADELINE GRANTHAM (ADDIE)of Alanthus Grove, daughter of THOMAS YOUNG GRANTHAM and NANCY GLENORCHY TEMPLETON. Their first two children: FRED W. CODER (1894) and EDITH ESTA CODER (1895) were born in Stanberry. The Coders moved to Nebraska around 1900.
I am writing a history of the family (Edith was my grandmother) and would appreciate any information. I do not know the date of David's death (possibly between 1890 and 1892) or the exact date of David and Eliza's and George and Addie's marriages. I do not have information about Daws. And Belle was supposed to have been married first to someone else. George or Addie were related to the MILLIGANs. There is supposed to be a Grantham Church near Alanthus Grove, but when I passsed through the area last summer I couldn't find it.
