Hi Elise,
I don't think we have the same Maggie Shanks. My Maggie was born 1871 in Glasgow, Married a fellow name of Robb in Scotland. I'm not aware of any US connection. Thanks anyway. Please write again to hughgpa@gmail if you want to explore further.
