I have an ancestor named Zadock Johnson who was born in Tenesee in 1822 and his son Jesse was born in Missouri around 1846. Zadock was married to Lucy Ann Pate, but the censuses I have found shows him in the 1860 census but in the 1870 census it shows Lucy as a widow, so I think my Zadock may have died in the civil war. He age would have been just right to have served in the war.

Zadock's father was Thomas Johnson, borm in 1803, and married to Mary N. Smith. Thomas' father was Samuel Johnson born in 1780. and married to Winnie Norton. Samuel's father was Thomas Johnson Sr., born in 1742 and married to Mary Elizabeth Whitacre.

That's as far back as my Johnson family tree goes. I dont know if they are related to your Johnson line but I thought I'd send what I have, just in case they are.
