Thank you for sharing your mother's account of her childhood in Arcadia. I know where the school she attended was near the corner of Main Street (formerly Hwy 21) and Maple Street. Directly on the corner of Main and Maple was the Wayside Inn which belonged to Joe & Maggie Selinger, my husband's grandparents. The school was probably torn down in the early 1960s and the Wayside Inn was torn down probably in the early 1970s. We lived on Maple Street then a few doors down from Main Street.
The Clarkson home that I think you are referring to just East across the railroad tracks from where Highway 21 now is still stands and was known as "The White House Inn." It is now a private home. That street is known as Thomson/Thompson Lane. The Western part of that street that extends to Main Street in Arcadia is Walnut, I believe. This sounds like the street your mother lived on in 1930 when she was five as listed in the 1930 Census.
