Gladys Helen Lowe was born November 11, 1907 in Des Arc, MO, a daughter of the late G. W. Brooks and Martha Ann (Tucker)Brooks Knipp, and passed away Monday November 2, 1992 in the Washington County Meml Hospital, Potosi, at the age of eighty four years, eleven months, and twenty one days.
April 18, 1925 she was united in marriage to James M. Lowe in Greenville, MO and to this union twelve children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Lowe made their home in Des Arc and later moved to Potosi where they owned a handle manufacturing company. They later moved to St. Clair. Following the death of Mr. Lowe in 1961 moved back to Potosi where she has resided since 1968.
Mrs. Lowe leaves to survive her six sons, James (Jack) Lowe and wife Marie. George "Bud", Lowe and wife Barbara, Jerry Lowe and wife Catherine, Danny Lowe and wife Linda, Richard Lowe and wife Dotty, Kenneth and wife Deanna; Four daughters, Joyce and husband Jim Hartapee, Berniece and husband Jim Cresswell, Ruth Ann and husband Ron Hill, Marolyn "Jean" and husband Lindell Coleman. Twenty four grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; One sister, Hazel Carroll, one half sister, Betty Sneed; Two sisters in law Ruth Engling and Marion Lowe; a special friend Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lowe was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Francis Virginia Lowe; one infant son; Dennis Gene Lowe, and one brother, Raymond Brooks.
Funeral Services were conducted Thursday, November 5, 1992 at 10:30 A.M. at Gum and Son Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Jim Slagg officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery, Des Arc., under the direction of Gum and Son Funeral Home, Potosi, MO.
