I don't know what's happening but I posted this message yesterday to the correct address for MO/Jackson list and the message hasn't showed up yet. I used the address that was sent to me by the list owner in the "welcome" message. So here goes again. *smiley face*

Re: the obit I posted for Catherine Burke, who died in a freak accident NOV 21, 1904, 5th and Campbell streets, Kansas city, MO.

Would some kind soul see if there is a death notice in the Missouri paper for Kansas City, MO at this time. I am happy to pay for costs. Thank you.

I'm trying to validate information related to the relationship of my great grandmother, Catharine Burke (nee Martin) and her niece, Honora (aka Nora) Keane, Kane (nee Scanlon).

Catharine's maiden name is MARTIN. Honora's maiden name is SCANLON. And her mother's maiden name is SWEENEY. I've only validated one sibling for Catharine, a brother---Francis (Frank) Martin, b. c. 1824, Ireland. He is buried in the same Row 17, with Michael J Burke and Catharine, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Johnson county, Shawnee, KS. And there may have been a sister, Mary Martin who married William STODDARD in Iowa.

If I could just find an article that tells who was in attendance at the funeral in Kansas. And perhaps some of her friends and family residing in MO wrote a tribute to Catharine. I'm probably reaching out to a "void" but I must follow my "hopes". (I have MJ Burke's obit for Johnson county, KS for1900)

Curiously, there is Thomas and Catherine BURKE at 412 Campbell Street that are listed in the 1900 census, about six doors from Thomas and Honora Keane. I have no idea if this Thomas is related to my Michael J. Burke. I'll post the 1900 census information in another message to eliminate too much reading in one post.

BTW, does anybody own Polk City Directories for Kansas City, MO circa 1865 - 1885? If the 1900 census records are correct, Honora Scanlon, Scanlan emig. c. 1868 from Ireland. And her husband (mar. 1872, KC, MO), Thomas Keane, Kane emig. c. 1866, Ireland. I don't know the names of the parents of Thomas Keane, b. c. 1849. And I'm not sure these families emigrated to Missouri shortly after Port of Entry from Ireland. The city directories nay be able to shed some light here. I'd be happy to pay for these copies, too.

I won't go into details about my great grandparents, Michael J. Burke and Catharine Martin at this time, because they emig. to Iowa first from Ireland and mar. in Dubuque, IA in 1850 then moved on to Kansas. MJ surveyed land in IA, MN, KS. I have all the census records and children with marriages, etc., for this family.

Thank you for listening and I appreciate any help that will move this search forward. Thank you.
