Classification: Lookup
Surnames: Halastik, Kisel, Kuesel, Splechter and Rusnak.
I am searching for information regarding my great grandmother's sister, Katie Kisel (Kuesel)Halastik who arrived in 1914 from Kolbach, Austria Hungary, joining her sisters, Alzbeta (Elizabeth) Kisel Splechter and Marya (Mary) Kisel Rusnak. Katie appears in the 1920 US census with her husband Joseph Halastik. I can't find a marriage record, but by 1918, she had lost an infant son (Joseph Halastik Jr) and in the census she has a daughter, Margaret, who is 7 months old. She had 2 or 3 more children before her life was taken and they appear in other census up until 1940, living in orphanages and 1 was attending seminary. I am going to guess that the murder occurred between 1925 and 1930 and family history tells me that this was a murder/suicide, but I can't find death records or newspaper articles that might give me some clues. Any information at all would be appreciated very much. Thanks, Barb
