Thanks for the links!
The Arthur F Adams (b: 3 Jan 1880, Berlin, Green Lake, Wisconsin) you mention is interesting.
My only info on the inventor that I seek is his name "F T Adams of Joplin, MO" from a 1916 Pennsylvania news article about someone else. So the name could be part wrong, they got those initials twisted around or just wrong all the time.
This Arthur F Adams is a young telephone company manager, who did well, but I can't find a reference saying he's an inventor. Looking through patent records, getting close but so far nothing for sure to say he's an inventor. Do you have a solid source for that bit of info? I can't get census images right now and the various transcriptions available online don't give occupation, which to me is the most interesting part.
I wonder what the 1910 Joplin census give as his occupation.
