I'm trying to find an ancestor named Anna Mae Smithey. She was born in Newark. She was the daughter of Thomas Garrett Smithey and Julia Belle Hudson Smithey. The 1930 census states she's a rural school teacher. In 1930, she gave birth to a son, Robert Smithy. Supposedly a man named Robert Hall was the father. He was adopted by his grandparents, Thomas and Julia Smithey. Anna M. Smithey lived in Newark in 1959: I know this because she was the informant on Julia Smithey's death certificate. After 1959, I don't know what happened. The Smithey's are buried at Mount Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Can anyone find any info on when she died and where she is buried? I live 5 hours away, and it would be difficult for me to go there and do the legwork.
