Haven't talked with you in a long time. The question about Kerhoff/ Kirchhoff. You may remember that I am the great grand daughter of Wilhemina Kirchhoff who married George Hemme in 1868. We conversed a lot about them a few years ago.
I have a few written family things from very early in the days they were living in Lafayette County spelling the name Kerhoff, then around 1880 the family seemed to have settled on the "High German" spelling Kirchhoff (church on the hill). However, some of the family who went to Texas still spelled it Kerhoff. The consensus wasn't complete as most adapted Kirchhoff but some used Kirchoff.
How are things with you? I was given two more boxes of family info, mostly from the Kobs/Jungklaus/Fuchs families of Lafayette County, but A little from the Hemmes and Kirchhoffs. It kept me real bust this winter,
