A friend found a cemetery (Maybe called North Fork) in the boonies near Deer Ridge and Williamstown, Missouri. Do you know anything about it? Says it has between 15 and 20 tombstones. Last buried there was in 1910 or so. She's going to see if Richard Truman is buried there. Since he was once a minister in both Williamstown and Deer Ridge, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My email address hasn't died. You had it written wrong.
Found a couple of old newspaper articles you might find interesting. One is about the wedding of Harry M. Lipes and Miss Jennie E. Baltzell on Sept. 10, 1910. The other is about the fatal accident of Robert Sharp. He was a young man who "was horribly mutilated by falling on a pitchfork handle". He was buried in LaBelle Cemetery on a day when the roads were "well nigh impassable".

Thank you - I didn't know Elmer ever went by Perry. His nickname was Bud. The mystery here is what happened to sibling Lee. My second cousin told me that he died at 19yrs old in some sort of accident. Is there a way to find this out anywhere? The family may have been in Ursa, IL at that time.

I'm looking for anyone that may know why my great uncle Elmer Mason at age 16 would be a farm laborer (servant) for the Wheeler family in Canton? Also, the Ellison family must've have been friends of some sort as Elmer's brother, my great uncle Homer Mason had Ellison family members as pallbearers at his funeral in 1975. If anyone knows anything about these times or families, pls contact me at rmrmason1@gmail.com
As a note: this is my father's family I'm researching and he was also born in Canton, MO and is still living, but, nobody seems to know why Elmer was here at this time.

Luke Davis married Rebecca

"My" Luke Davis was born abt. 1822, son of Eli Davis and Mary Kincaid. Luke is MY great great grandfather. I have no idea where or when he died. Luke married Rebecca Hale on July 2, 1848 in Boone County, Indiana.

In 1850 Census, Rebecca age 26 is living in Boone Co., IN with husband, Luke Davis age 28 and children, *Sarah Ann Davis age 3 and Mary Elizabeth Davis age 9 months. Living near Rebecca's family is her mother, Nancy Hale House age 44 and her husband, George House age 50 and Rebecca's sister, Sarah Hale age 21. Luke's occupation is listed as Laborer and George as a carpenter.

In 1860 Census, Rebecca is age 36 and alone with her children, Mary Elizabeth age 10, Nancy Ellen age 6, James age 4 and Benjamin age 2. The child, Sarah Ann Davis from the 1850 Census is not present. Therefore, Luke Davis may have died between 1850 and 1860 census. *Sarah Ann Davis age 3 in 1850 IN Census perhaps is the child of Rebecca and her first husband William Ward. The marriage to William Ward has not been proved.

In 1870 Census, Rebecca is age 47, married to Samuel Martin age 53 and only Benjamin age 13 is living with them in Lewis Co., MO. In 1880 Census, Rebecca is age 56, Samuel Martin age 62 and Benjamin is still living with them at age 21 in Lewis Co., MO.

The children of Luke Davis and Rebecca Hale are Nancy Ellen Davis (my great grandmother) died 20 Mar 1898, Benjamin Franklin Davis born 07 Sep 1858 and died 29 Jun 1935, James G. Davis (I think the G. stands for Garfield), and Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Davis. I have their husbands/wives and children if you need the info.

I am at a dead end at finding out what happened to Luke Davis between 1850 and 1860. I have researched cemetery records and newspapers. I believe he came to Lewis Co., MO with Rebecca and the children including various House relatives. I also cannot find a gravesite for Rebecca Hale Davis Martin. I have an obit for Benjamin Franklin Davis buried in Deer Ridge Cemetery, Reddish Township, Lewis County, La Belle, MO.

My email is sciross@aol.com. I have folders of Davis family info but need some help with Luke or Rebecca. Linda

Ironically, my father was born in Canton, MO 1933. His parents lived in Canton at this time. Has anyone approached the Genealogical Office in Canton regarding this family? Kevin - if you hit a roadblock, get ahold of me at rmrmason1@gmail.com

I had many relatives living in Canton for years.

I have come across a photo taken in Lewis County Missouri circa 1930ish (I think). I can not identify anyone in the photo. It is not my parents (Ralph Kilkenny born and raised in Lewis County) or (Martha Early Kilkenny born and raised in Knox County)) but might be Ralph's mother ( I've never seen a photo of her).

Anyone happen to know these people? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Somehow I missed that the State Historical Society was digitizing Missouri newspapers on microfilm. These are on-line. Most of my people were in Clark County, but a few were in Lewis County. No anticipated date for Clark County, but here is what I got regarding the Canton Press:

"In the meantime, the Canton Press years 1862-1877 from neighboring Lewis County will be made available online in the coming months thanks to a grant received via the Missouri State Library. Check for the appearance of this title and others among the Society’s growing list of digitized newspapers:

http://shs.umsystem.edu/newspaper/mdnp/mdnptable.shtml"

I have a TImothy Burk, b. 1837, married multiple times. He was married briefly to Esther Ann Van Pelt in 20 March 1856, in Seneca COunty, Ohio. They had one son, Elmer Burk. He married again not to long after that, so I assume Esther Ann died. Timothy died in Lewis COunty, Missouri

The early years in to the 1930's
is in a well worn ledger book. That is where I found the info and the unmarked grave of Uncle Ernest. I had this
problem corrected a few years ago. Good Luck in you search.

I am looking for information on a Mildred Thompsonn who married George Sheckells in Lewis County, Missouri in 1851. I see two Mildred Thompson's as being listed on an 1850 census in Lewis County, one being the daughter of Buckner Thompson and Catherine and the other being a daughter of Elias Thompson and Dianna Holloway.
I descend from Quiltincy Thompson (John Roberts) as well but am trying to find the parentage of Mildred Thompson.
Would love to hear from anyone with information that could help me.

Ruggles Lake are the only 2 readable stones. There is a base for a smaller spire monument, but, did not see it.
Any idea of how many readable stones would have been there??
Zerelda Bouware was buried there in 1937 according to her Death Cert. and would think she would have a tombstone.
