Bruce Lee Bishard
Bruce Lee Bishard, 79, of Waldport, Ore., died Sept. 5, 2012 in Corvallis, Ore.
He was born June 15, 1933 to Levi Eli Bishard and Ruth Valine (Bishop) Bishard in Hannibal, Mo.
Bruce spent 12 years of his life in Hannibal. His family then moved to Van Nuys, Calif. where he graduated from high school. In 1979, he moved to Meadow Vista, Calif. He moved to Waldport in 2000.
He was a longtime member of a 12-step organization and helped many troubled persons through the program. He was very proud of this.
He was employed in the space program at Litton Industries in southern California. He was a machinist at Coherent of Auburn, Calif.
Bruce was a member of the Yachats Presbyterian Church. He was an advisor for Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Oregon Hunters Association. He made his own ammunition and hunted for large animals for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Ruth Bishard; his second wife, Mary Atkins; and daughter, Roxanne Marie Bishard.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carol Ann Pine Bishard, of Waldport; children, Jeffrey Lee Bishard (Annette Hobson) of Phoenix, Ariz., Donna Linda Peterson (Norm) of Fallon, Nev., Peggene Bishard (Kevin Patterson) of Santa Fe, N.M.; stepchildren, Stephen Hunn of Barrington, N.H., Patricia Smith of Lake Havasu, Ariz. and Elizabeth Beaulieu of Colchester, Vt.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Yachats Presbyterian Church at 360 W. Seventh St. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
