Searching for T.C. Kirkland from Putnam County, Tennessee, by way of Cookeville, Tennessee, before the Civil War. The Kirkland's lived on the North Fork River in Ozark County, Missouri after leaving Tennessee. T.C.'s name has also shown up as John in family records. Our verbal family history indicates that Bonnye Kirkland from Ozark County, Missouri is first cousin to T.C. I haven't found a traceable familial connection. I have been unable to find T. (Tom?) C. Kirkland in Tennessee, and therefore unable to locate his parents or siblings. The 1870 Missouri Census Report for Richland Township (127/124), shows a T.C. Kirlin, age 23, married to Mary Ellen, age 24. The ages of Mary Ellen (James) and their sons, John M. and Jesse Bennett (my maternal grandfather), correspond with documents obtained at the Ozark County, Missouri Courthouse. Two daughters appear later, Louiza J. (1873) and Maud E. (1876). The 1880 Missouri Census shows Mary Ellen as a widow, with her four children listed.
