Henry Emerson was born May 4th, 1806 in Tennessee. He may have been the son of William Emerson, who moved from Tennessee to White Co., Illinois in 1817. On Aug 19th, 1825, in White Co., Illinois, Henry married Sarah Barkley. They had a daughter, Susia, born 17 July, 1826, who married a John Taylor on 26 March, 1844 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. It was my understanding that the third child born to John and Susia Emerson Taylor, was the Samuel Nathaniel Taylor who married Rebeca Deatherage in Cedar Co., Mo. This does not seem to agree with your information.

Our oral family history tells of a family member who was hung in his store. Our story is that he was hung by renegades, when he would not disclose where he had his money hidden. In our version of the story he was shot after being hanged and the store was then burned. Would love to hear more of your story. Perhaps we are both dealing with the same ancestor. Ed Emerson
