Christopher Hensley's first wife was Susannah (or Susan?) Penrod. I am assuming that Catherine's married name was Tompkins, because that was my great grandfather Clark's name, unless she had him out of wedlock. I am unable at this point to identify her maiden name, or who her spouse was before she married Christopher. I do know that my great grandfather always told his family that his father died, his mother remarried, and then she died, and that he was raised by people who were not really his relatives. It took a while before I was able to trace that to the Hensley family. One tree I found said that Catherine was born in 1816 in New York, but that same tree had her marrying Christopher in 1840, when records show he was still married to Susannah. I live fairly close to Edgar County, which is where they lived before moving to MO, so someday I may take a tour of some the old cemeteries and see what I can turn up. Unfortunately, the old Edgar County courthouse burned in the late 1800's, so no infor there. I will soon be closing my ancestry account, so if anyone has any further information, or needs any, I can be reached at Frank
