I am a descendant of Brooks and Rayfield from Reynold's county also, only both of our lines are different. I have run across your line in my research. My g-grandmother Elizabeth Rayfield was the daughter of John Carter Rayfield b 1816 KY and Nancy Ann Mann. We think that your John Rayfield was possibly an Uncle of our John Carter but don't have any good info on that. That John and Nancy King were born in NC. I have 5 children listed for them, but no Andrew J. I have Lee (?) Laura, Martha L., William, Sarah Catherine. and I got that info from a Lowell Brooks who was a grandson of John & Nancy. We have a William C Brooks also, only yours is I think William Carson Brooks, and we have not been able to find any link to our Brooks. Our William Cebert Brooks was a son of Thomas Hardman Brooks of Reynold's county. William had a brother named Amos and that was my g grandfather who was married to Elizabeth Rayfield. so really I know my information here is not really helpful to you, but I have always found these 2 different lines to be such a puzzle. You might find more in the book "History of Early Reynolds County" by James Bell.
