I am looking at the same puzzle. I found a Elias Brown in the 1850 Census in Lauderdale County AL. Elijah Brown is buried in the brown cemetery in Lauderdale County, however,I cannot find out about his wife, may be Kay Johnson, may be Rachael Jarman, but this one is a puzzle. If elijah married Rachel, it was 1828, which would fit the dates of the children,Samuel, Elizabeth, Roof and Newton. However, Elizah died inMarch 1850 and the census did not record until Nov 1850. Note maybe they got the census but were laterecording it. SO, I am still in the dark. Roof is my line
