I am collecting material for a book on the small Randolph Co town of Higbee, founded in 1872 on the construction of the Katy RR and the opening of coal mines. Among the earliest settlers were members of the Tymony family, e.g., James Marmaduke Tymony, Francis Tymony, etc., who obituaries indicate came from the Gilliam area in Saline Co. Their use of the Marmaduke name has caused me to wonder if there were connections to that well known family, but of course children were often named for famous/imfamous people of the time.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone having knowledge of these families.
