The Short-McCrary Funeral Home was in Marshall, mo. My grandfather died 9 Apr 1936 and is buried in Shakelford,mo.
Some of the information show him as P.W.Dougherty,but his name was Daniel Webster Daugherty/Dougherty. I have his death certificate, but it doesn't show his parents names. I ffound a census in 1910 for Missouri that shows his wife,Belle in her parents home with 2 children, that she is married, but does not list Daniel in the home. When I check Alton, Ill. I find a Nettie Dougherty with another Dougherty listed that might be his mother, but can not prove that. She was married to a Daniel Dougherty. right place, right name, but no documentation.

I was told that the Weiker funeral home in slater had the old records from Mccrary. I called them, but have not gotten a return call. I'll try them one more time. I was at the Maggie Duggans room to inquire about the records and was told to check with Weiker.

Zachary T Beaty

All my research keeps bringing me back to Zachary T Beaty that was born in 1850 Missouri. His parents were Andrew Beaty born 1800 Kentucky and Julia Martin. Andrews parents were William Beaty born in 1764 and Sarah Crockett. Can anyone help me gather information on Zachary T Beaty he married Susie Flippo in 1902 in Arkansas. In 1908 he was one of the first grand jurior members in McCurtain County Oklahoma's new Court House. Then about the 26th of Aug 1910 he was found hung from a tree in Garvin township in McCurtain County,Oklahoma. There is info I have found in Oklahoma that says he is J Beaty or Beatty these are all him this I know from family info and have found records to back up. His name is Z T Beaty found on marriage record to Susie Flippo. He was from Missouri found on census record from 1910 of Susie Beaty and children in Arkansas. He was a lot older than her found on picture of him in front of McCurtain county new court house. He is named J Beaty in newspaper article about him being hung but family story is he was hung in Garvin when his son Jasper Beaty was 3 years old this would have been about 1910. Can anyone help me with any info of what happened to Zachary Beaty son of Andrew Beaty from Missouri would love to prove he is Z T Beaty that married Susie Flippo all my research keeps coming back to him so I am hoping somebody who is a lot more knowledgable with genealogy than me can help. Also I would like to know when and how Z T and Susie Beaty's son Joseph Beaty Born 1909 in Arkansas died. I want to thank anyone and everyone who has helped me in the past and who is willing to help me again with any and all information or for any ideas no matter how small would be greatly appreciated thank you

Hi! Below there is evidence that Sarah Jane Findly lived with Ed Jeffries in some sort of mixed family. I don't see a father listed. I found this connection listed below in Familysearch.com. On that sight, it does also list Sarah Jane Finley as also born in 1852 in Salin MO, but doesn't show who her parents were. So, is Sallie Sarah Jane Finley or Sarah Jane Findly? And who exactly are her parent? If you find out let me know. Albert Symes is my great Grandfather.

name:	Sarah Jane Findly
estimated birth year:	1852
gender:	Female
age in 1870:	18y
color (white, black, mulatto, chinese, indian):	White
birthplace:	Missouri
home in 1870:	Missouri, United States
Household	Gender	Age	Birthplace
Sarah A Jeffers
F	43y	Virginia
John T Findly
M	19y	Missouri
Sarah Jane Findly F	18y	Missouri
Edmonds Jeffress
M	14y	Missouri
Mary E Jeffress
F	10y	Missouri
Carry Jeffress
F	8y	Missouri
Martha H Jeffress
F	3y	Missouri
Does anyone know who keeps/manages the records for Arrow Rock Cemetery. I believe my GG-Grandmother is buried there in an unmarked grave and would like to research this. Her husband is there and I know his marker was purchased later when the family had money.

This was an institution for mentally, physically disabled and there were also people who lived there that were orphans. It is still open today, but there are not many people living there now. The phone number is 660-886-2201 . hope this helps.

I guess Haller could be Hatton. The writer may have failed to cross the "t" and the "er" is run together (may should have been "on"). Luther was a grandchild. So who was his parents?

Thank you. That looks so orderly. I did notice the Haller after Luther's name. This brought a question to my mind if it was misspelled, or misread, as the l looks like a t and the a like an o and the r like a t.
According to family legend, "Hatton" was indian and the line had intermixed. Being light skinned and light eyed, when the trouble came with the government over the indians being put on the reservation, this line "supposedly" made a pact as a family to be "white" and intermarried with all the light fair haired families they could to protect their families. Thus, Goodwin of Ireland and others. If you have more information on this; I would appreciate knowing about any of it. Supposedly Luther was 1/2 indian, which makes my huband and 1/8. Although blond, blue eyed, he has many indian characteristics, as do our 5 children.

The main thrust of the Ross County Ohio migration to Saline County (the Malta Bend area, Grand Pass Twp.) started with members of the Lunbeck family. They platted the town of Malta Bend. Word spred back home to Ross Co. via letters, and visits about the wonderfully fertile soil. Thus many families joined the migration. My great grandfather Jame A. Tobin was one of them. He came by horse, and wagon in 1870.
I have seen the settlement referred to informally as the "Ohio Colony" because there were so many there from Ross, and adjoinining counties in Ohio. See 1881 History of Saline County. You may read it free on line.

Lowen Dean Thomas went missing from the Marshall State School in 1976. He was 9 years old when he first went to live there in 1947. In August of 1976 he went missing without a trace. A report was filed but this soon turned into a cold case. Anyone knowing persons who worked there at the time who might have information, please reply. His profile is included in the link below from The Doe Network. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/2009dmmo.html When he disappeared, Lowen Dean's family was left with more questions than answers. Any help out there is very much appreciated.

I'm at a dead end with Charles Long (b. 1860)who was born in KY and married Anne Clark (b. 1862) in Saline County in 1878. (She is the daughter of William Clark b. 1822 and Margaret Wall b. 1827. They had three children-- William b. 1880, N Alice b. 1881, J Bently b. 1884. Sometime between 1884 and 1900, Charles, Anne and William disappeared and the other two children were living with their maternal grandparents.

J Bently is my g-grandfather.

Terri (Long) Cannon
