My husband's family is from St. Francois County, Mo. His father is Harry Smith b 1925. Harry's parents were Earl Albert and Edythe Hattie Maurer Smith in Leadbelt. Don't know when Earl was born. Edythe was b 1901 d 1956. Earl's parents were Albert V and Ida Snyder Smith. They were married in St. Francois Co. Apr 1897. Edythe's parents were Lewis and Rebecca Mueller Maurer. Lewis d 1929 and is buried in Bonne Terre. Edythe's siblings were Arthur, Harry and Louie Maurer.

Nobody knows anything about Earl Smith as he left Edythe alone to raise 3 children. His parents Albert and Ida are buried in Springfield, Il.

Lewis Maurer had a sister, Marietta b 1856, married Frederick Kleppsattel. I used to get descriptive letters from Fred Kleppsattel in Bonne Terre in the 80's. He and Marilyn Wicklein gave me a lot of info. I've lost contact with them.
