WAYNE WILFONG COMPLETES MARINE RECRUIT TRAINING
San Diego, Calif. (FHTNC)--Marine Private Wayne Wilfong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Wilfong of Route 2, Bonne Terre, recently completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Marine recruits undergo more than 100 hours of physical conditioning, spend more than 80 hours learning how to drill, and devote three weeks to rifle and pistol marksmanship in their 11-week training program. their minutely planned curriculum includes over 80 hours in the classroom absorbing several military subjects ranging from first aid to the history of the Marine Corps.
Several hours are devoted to spiritual and character-building courses. Production of good basic Marines and responsible patriotic citizens are the two primary objectives of the program.
Following graduation, the new Marines report to Camp Joseph H. Pendleton, near Oceanside, California for advanced infantry training.
