Article headline: Deny Knowledge of Killing. John and Henry NEIBEKER Arrested in Bonne Terre
Transcribed article text:
Henry and John NEIBEKER who were arrested on an Iron Mountain train at Robert avenue yesterday morning and are held for the authorities at Bonne Terre, Mo., say they know nothing of the killing of Ran KOWALUS at Desloge, Mo., Sunday.
Both men are German lead miners and can speak but little English. Asked why they ran away from Desloge, Henry NEIBEKER declared that it was a foolish thing for them to do. He said they were taken to the railway station at Bonne Terre and advised to go to St. Louis. He declared that he was anxious to go back.
KOWALUS was stabbed in a general fight at his boarding house. Both John and Henry NEIBEKER claimed yesterday that they did not know how he was killed or by whom. The trouble is said to have started over a board bill which KOWALUS claimed John NEIBEKER owed him.
