MRS. FANNIE
HARDYMrs. Fannie
HARDY, daughter of the late John S. and Sarah Jane
Owen, was born in
Washington County,
Missouri, July 1, 1877. She passed to her eternal reward July 5th 1962, at the ripe old age of 85 years and 4 days.
In March, 1897, she was united in marriage with
Thompson HARDY, who preceded her in death in 1938. Seven children came to bless this union, five of whom survive. They are
Amos O. Hardy, Farmington; Ray M. Hardy, East St. Louis, Ill.; Mabel (Mrs. J. R. Bondurant) of Columbia; Mrs. Annabel
McDaniel, Columbia; and Bernice (Mrs. Jim
Pierce) of
Cantwell. She also leaves one brother, Dr. E. D. Owen, Flat River; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; with numerous other relatives and a host of friends, who will miss her very much.
Mrs. Hardy professed faith in
Christ many years ago, and was a faithful laborer in the Lord's vineyard. As the years went by she was privileged to hold membership in several
Baptist churches, including Farmington, Three
Rivers, Esther, of which she was a charter member, and at
Cantwell where she was a member for 32 years.
She was very faithful in church attendance and endeavor, until incapacitated by poor health, and the infirmities of old age. Like the Syro-Phoenecian woman, she had great faith. Like Mary of
Bethany, she did what she could. Like Mary the mother of Jesus, she knew what it meant to stand by the cross. She was cheerful in disposition, patient in tribulation, submissive in suffering. "Her children rise up and call be blessed." Of her, it can be truthfully said: "Life's work well done; life's race well run; life's crown well won--now comes rest." "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord--they rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, July 7, at the First
Baptist Church in
Cantwell, conducted by the Rev. Chris
Scheihing, assisted by the Rev. Dr. E. D. Owen. Burial was in the
Doe Run Cemetery. C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral
