I have a handwritten job description of Rolla/Rolly Claywell and James Wesley 'Clay/Klay', while working in the lead mines in 1895. It is part of John Dosing's civil war pension file.
If you are interested in a copy, pls. email me directly at KayClerc@yahoo.com
- or find me on the St. Francois Co, MO rootsweb mailing list.
Based on the 1870 St. Francois census, Rolla Claywell, age 8 appears to be the son of (Andrew) Jackson age 41 and (Martha) Elizabeth age 37.
(per the Betsy Claywell obit on Mackley's obit site, her maiden name was Smith).
