Hello, My last name is Govereau, and we are from Manitoba Canada. I am having a heck of a time finding ANY threads concerning my grandfather, and came across your comment that ALL Govereau's are from Etienne Govereau who came to Quebec in the early 1700s as a soldier.
I am to assume that would also include Govereau's from Manitoba, and eastwards? I am trying to find Alfred John Govereau who came to Cananda with his brother from Minnisota to Manitoba to the lumber mills to work, where, years later he was killed in a shaft in the mine according to Theodore Govereau, his son, who witnessed the accident. Theo was 16 at the time. That puts Alfred in Manitoba ABOUT 1943-1944? I do not know how old Alfred was when he died tho. His birthdate in my family tree is an estimate. I have NO records on him tho.I Would LOVE to find a border crossing document or SOMETHING! His first born Daughter Lorna Govereau was born in 1920.
