Gladys Elnora Negim was born January 28, 1917 at Potosi, MO., a daughter of the late Lee and Virgie (Richards) Summers. She passed away suddenly Friday, December 18, 1981 at her home, at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Negim served for several months as the City of Potosi Community Development Block Grant Coordinator and Housing Assistance Program Director.

Gladys, or "Sis" as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was very active in community affairs and was a charter member of the En Avant Society, M.F.W.C. She was a dedicated member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church where she had the honor of serving as a ruling Elder and was presently on the Sessions.

She was united to Chester Negim on June 15, 1934 at Edwardsville, Illinois and two children were born to this union. Mr. Negim preceded his wife in death on January 4, 1960. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Frank Negim; three sisters, twins, Ruby and Ruth Summers, and Madeline Will.

Those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are: one daughter, Verda Jane (Mrs. Arlon Wren) of Pekin, Ill.; four sisters: Virginia (Mrs. Lindy Jarvis), Venice, Florida; Freda (Mrs. George Foss) Potosi; Lillie Mae (Mrs. Paul J. Richeson), Hardy, Arkansas and Margaret Ann (Mrs. Duelyn Crawford) of Taylorville, Illinois; two grandsons, Stephen and Kelly Skaggs of Potosi; three step-granddaughters, Debbie Wren, Linda Coleman and Sue Copeland; two step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20 at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Bert Bronaugh officiating. Interment was in New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, under the direction of the Britton Bros. (Sparks) Funeral Home of Potosi.
