My files show Elijah Bettis, Sr. as being born in North Carolina and who married Amy----. He died in 1812. He was supposedly the first trained doctor in Wayne County. His children were: Elenor,Elijah,Jr., Jean,Sally, Lovely, Overton and Ransom. Ransom died March 30,1842 in Pocahontas, AR. He married Sarah (Polly) Kelly. Eleanor Bettis(1772-1809) married Ezekiel Chandler Rubottom (my gggrandfather)(1770-1857)in 1791. Eleanor was born in Moore county, NC and died in Wayne County, MO. Their children were Pleasant D.,b.1790 in Chatham County, NC, married Jeane Robinson;Civility b.1795 in Chatham County, NC and married David Logan;Mary b.1796 in Chatham County, NC and married Robert Logan; William Wiley b. 1809 in Wayne County, MO. and married Sarah Ann Edwards; Elijah. I have Lovely's husband as Elijah Mathews. After Eleanor died my gggrandfather married again and that is the family from which I descend.
