Thank you, Tim, and apologies for not being more specific. The censuses were between 1910 and 1940. What I learned this morning (after my friend spoke with an 87 year old aunt) is that Commission was a euphemism for "...Commission Row or Produce Row. It was an area that had rows of different produce houses where retailers (grocery stores) would buy produce. It was on 3rd street off Washington Ave." This makes sense as the son of the "Commission Driver" becomes a vegetable Salesman! Wondering if the Mission Com House (where he was a salesman also) might somehow be related. In addition, the Candy stores were National Candy Company on Gravois Street near Chippewa (STL) and Marvoks (spelling?) Candy Company (STL).
Thank you for the links. I will definitely be looking at that information, as well.
Next stop - info on the Sanitarium on Arsenal off Kings Highway. (I've not lived or have any relatives in the St. Louis area, so I have MUCH to learn).
Thanks again, Tim! I appreciate your assistance!
